Christmas

For when you feel: Christmas morning, nativity, Christmas devotion

And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all the people: For, this day is born to you a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David.
Luke 2:10–11 · Douay-Rheims

The MinuteHomily

It was the middle of the night watch, and the men who heard the first Christmas announcement smelled like sheep. The biggest news in history skipped every palace and found shepherds in a field. The angel began with "Fear not" and handed them "good tidings of great joy," then gave the address: "unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour." The shepherds heard their own names inside that word, and so should you. Not unto the qualified or the ready, but unto you. However this Christmas finds you, full house or quiet one, grieving or glad, the tidings stand. He came all the way down, on purpose, for you. Fear not. Great joy. He is here.

A prayer for this moment

Jesus, Saviour, thank You for coming all the way down: to shepherds, to Bethlehem, to me. Be born fresh in my heart this Christmas. Amen.

“The Son of God became man so that we might become sons of God.”
